Obituary Overview
Forever In Our Hearts
Maidie passed away on Wednesday, June 6th, 2018 at 92 years of age, following a brief stay in the Palliative Care Unit at Regina Pasqua Hospital.
Maidie was born November 17, 1925 in Strasbourg to parents Henry and Mary Stricker. She was predeceased by her beloved husband George in 1999; her son Barry (in infancy); her brothers Fred, Reinhold and Edward; and sisters Molly Schultz and Gladys Gorrill.
She is survived by her daughters Bonnie (Garry) Hubenig and Debbie Fries (Dennis Young); her grandchildren Jeff (Nancy) Hubenig, Shauna Wouters, Rod (Michelle) Hubenig and Laura (Doug) O’Brien; her great grandchildren Ryan Hubenig, Sophia O’Brien, Kalina Hubenig, Kate Hubenig and Alex O’Brien; her sister Helen Schultz; and her brother Art (Marguerite) Stricker.
Maidie was deeply devoted to her family. She was always exceedingly generous, sharing insightful observations, and possessing a warm sense of humour. She enjoyed the company of others but was also proudly independent.
She and George met at an early age and their love never diminished. The day of her passing was also their wedding anniversary.
She held unconditional love for all her children and grandchildren, in spite of challenges with her physical health during her final years.
While she has now moved on to a better place, her spirit is already missed here. In keeping with Maidie’s wishes, no formal service will be held.
In memoriam, donations can be directed to the Caring Hearts (formerly Regina Palliative Care), Suite 200 – 2150 Scarth Street, Regina, SK S4P 2H7 or to Kinsmen Telemiracle, 2217C Hanselman Court, Saskatoon, SK S7L 6A8. The family wishes to thank Dr. Van Der Merwe and to the dedicated medical staff in the Palliative Care Unit.
