Obituary Overview
Forever In Our Hearts
Lynn passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at age of 71 years.
She was predeceased by her parents Raymond and Nancy.
Lynn leaves to cherish her memory her cousins Jim (Lynn) McManus, Terry (Barb) Hendrickson, Ron (Pam) Hendrickson, Mark Hendrickson, Jeff (Brenda) Hendrickson and their families; best friend Linda Norton of Calgary, AB; as well as many other cousins and friends.
Lynn was born in Milestone, the only child of Ray and Nancy McManus. She attended school in Milestone and loved growing up in a small town, taking figure skating and piano lessons.
After high school, Lynn took a lab tech course but soon realized it was not for her and went into nurses’ training at the Regina Grey Nuns Hospital, graduating in 1971.
Lynn worked on a medical unit in Regina, before making her way to Calgary, where she worked at the Psychiatric Unit at the Foothills Medical Centre.
She decided to attend college in Edmonton and moved there in 1978. Lynn met her best friend Linda there and graduated from Grant MacEwan College as an Occupational Health Nurse in 1980.
There was a move back to Calgary where Lynn was employed as an OHN at SAII, followed by a move to Vancouver in 1984 where she held an OHN position at UBC and then at Vancouver General. Lynn took further training as a Medical Office Assistant at McKay Technical Institute in Vancouver in 1993 and later taught there for three years.
When Lynn’s father Ray suffered injuries from a car accident in 2002, she moved back to Regina and worked doing insurance medicals, which gave her the flexibility to spend time with her dad.
Lynn was a friendly and talkative people person who could carry on a conversation with anyone, which helped with her success with her career throughout her life.
She loved to attend the symphony and theatre, and was an avid figure skating fan. She knew the names of all the Canadian skaters and loved watching the ice shows, especially the Olympics and world competitions. Lynn was also a true Roughrider fan and knew all the fine points of the game.
She enjoyed travelling to Hawaii and several other places, and went on many trips and cruises with Linda.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at the General and Pasqua Hospitals while Lynn was in their care.
A SERVICE TO CELEBRATE LYNN’S LIFE will be held at Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
