Lydia Ledis Miller 2018

Obituary Overview
Lydia Ledis Miller
In loving memory of Lydia Ledis Miller, (nee Popowich) who passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital late Saturday, November 10, 2018.
She will live on in the hearts of her daughter Debra and husband Stanley, and her grandson Randy and wife Edyta. She will also be missed by family, including her sisters-in-law Minnie and Elaine Mirecki, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lydia was predeceased by her parents, James and Juliana Popowich, her sisters Olga Popowich, Vivian Hillegas and Florence Rogers, and by her brother Stanley Popowich.
Lydia was born the baby of the family at Oak Hammock. She attended the old Earl Grey School, where her brother, Stanley, served on the School Board. After graduating, she moved to Winnipeg, where she worked at United College, now the University of Winnipeg. One of her favorite stories about this time took place at the time of the Royal Tour in 1939. Lydia and a friend took advantage of the Royal tour to visit one of the local bars, which, at the time, were off limits to women, but had been opened to everyone for the day. Though soft-spoken and petite, she was definitely not a shrinking violet.
After leaving United College, Lydia worked for many years at the downtown Zellers store, finally retiring in 1982, when her grandson, Randy, was born.
Shortly after the Second World War, she met her future husband, Russell Miller, at his homecoming party from the army. They were married on October 29, 1948. Five years later, to the day, her only child, Debra was born. Russ and Lydia spend a long and happy life together, and were fortunate enough to spend their last years together at the Luther Home Personal Care Home. Following Russell’s passing in July 2017, Lydia became fully involved in the social life of the Luther Home. It was difficult to know when to pay a visit, as she was always involved in one activity or another. Her presence there will be missed by both staff and residents.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 30, 2018, at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB.
We would like to thank everyone at the Luther Home for making Lydia’s final years a happy and rewarding experience.
Flowers are gratefully declined. If anyone wishes, donations may be made to the Luther Personal Care Home in Lydia’s memory for their building fund.
Lydia had always regarded age as an irrelevance and so, per her oft stated wishes, her age has not been included in this obituary.

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Lydia Ledis Miller 2018..
