OBITUARY
Lourdes Pelayo Oro Vianzon
March 26, 1943 – July 20, 2018
Lourdes “Lulu” Oro Vianzon was a well-loved daughter, wife, mother, sister, auntie, cousin, and friend, adored and well respected by everyone in her life. She was a humble woman who was extremely generous and kind-hearted. She devoted her life to caring for others. Her greatest pride and joy was raising her children and caring for her grandchildren. She spent most of her professional life caring for the elderly, working in various hospitals in the Philippines, Regina and Vancouver, and fostered children in need.
She moved to Canada in 1967 with her husband, but never forgot her relatives back in the Philippines. She helped countless family members to realize the Filipino dream of moving to Canada to make a better life for themselves. Many of us will remember her as someone who without hesitation, welcomed us into her home, staying with her family while we ourselves transitioned to life in Canada or Vancouver.
After a brave battle with cancer, Lourdes peacefully passed away on July 20, 2018 surrounded by her husband Alfred, children Ronald (Karen), Edgar (Janet), her granddaughters Abby and Mila, and many loved ones. She will be joining her parents Jose and Consorcia and brother Jose « Long » in Heaven. She will be remembered dearly by her siblings Loreta (Ging), Rebecca (Arnold), Deding (Gilmore), her uncle Percival, cousin Josephine (Tacio), many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Lamay will be held at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel, 1835 East Hastings Street in Vancouver on Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at Our Lady of The Assumption Parish, 3141 Shaughnessy Street in Port Coquitlam on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue in Burnaby.
