OBITUARY
Lorna Beulah Tubman
April 9, 1926 – June 7, 2018
With sadness the family of Lorna Tubman announces her passing on June 7, 2018, peacefully in her sleep after a long struggle with dementia.
Lorna was born in Star City, SK on April 9, 1926 to parents Will and Grace Armstrong.
Lorna was predeceased by her parents; brothers Fern, Blair, Bud and Ray; sisters Bertha and Dorothy; her husband Tom and her daughter Elsie (Bill) Baddeley. She is survived by her brother Bill (Claire) Armstrong; daughters Darlene (Darrel) Bensmiller and Ellen (Leonard) Vallie; sons Thomas Tubman and Cary (Debbie) Tubman; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held at the First Memorial Funeral Services chapel, 1211 Sutherland Ave, Kelowna on Sunday July 1, 2018 at 2:00 pm with reception to follow.
After her husband’s early death in 1957, Lorna earned her high school equivalency and her bookkeeping diploma from Kelowna Vocational School while raising her five children as a single mom. She then worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Kelowna City Hall. Lorna was a longtime volunteer with the Kelowna Salvation Army. She also volunteered at the Physio department of Kelowna General Hospital and at the YMCA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lorna’s name may be made to the Kelowna Salvation Army.
