Lillian Loretta Vincent (Romkey)
October 08, 1933 – October 21, 2018
VINCENT (Romkey), Lillian Loretta
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Lillian Loretta Vincent. She slipped peacefully from this world into the warm embrace of our Lord on Sunday October 21, 2018 after a short battle with cancer. Born on October 28, 1933, in Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Arelia (Hanson) Romkey.
She is survived by her daughter, Darlene (Kevin) Ripley (Dartmouth), sons, Dwight (Tina Olsen) Vincent (Dartmouth), Dwayne Vincent (Dartmouth), granddaughters Ashley, Jessie, Kenzie, Paige, Delaney, grandsons Michael, Devin, great-granddaughters Makiah, Jordyn, Cassandra, Brooklyn, great-grandsons Ma-kel, Heaven, sister, Shirley Baker (Middle Musquodoboit), brothers, Donald (Thelma) Romkey (Dartmouth), Eric (Jeanette) Romkey (River John) and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Chester (Gump) Vincent, her parents, sister, Kathleen Marshall, brothers Jim (Laura) and Gary (Joan).
Lillian was a long time member of the Lake Echo Seniors Club and enjoyed the many social events, cards, crib tournaments. She cherished her family and friendships throughout her life. She was always the first to lend a helping hand or bake for any occasion. She will be remembered for always providing cookies for all school events not only for her children but grandchildren alike. She always made everyone feel welcome in her home and was known as ‘nan’ to many. Nothing was more important to her then her family. She held many different positions throughout her working life at Fairey Aviation, Carleton Cards, IMP Group, and did not fully retire until 2017 after 14 years as a school crossing guard. She did get to enjoy some travelling but nothing brought her greater pleasure than going camping to PEI every summer with family. She will be remembered for her strength and selfless nature.
Cremation has taken place. A church service will be held Friday, October 26, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Port Wallis United Church with a reception to follow, 263 Waverley Rd, Dartmouth. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dartmouth Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Cancer Society.
