Obituary for Lillian Norman (Porter)
NORMAN, Lillian B. Major – Born in Long Pond on April 20, 1931 and entered Heavens gates on February 28, 2018. She was commissioned as a Salvation Army officer in 1952 as a member of The Intercessors Session. Lillian was predeceased by her loving husband and partner in ministry Major William Norman. Together they served in congregations throughout the island. Lillian was known for her powerful sermons and gentle spirit. Lillian is survived by her daughters: Beverley (David) Harvey, Valerie (Brian) Wheeler and son Paul. Her special prince and grandson Zachary Wheeler. She is also survived by brothers: Stan (May) Porter and Fred Porter. As well as a number of nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 7:00 -9:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A service of celebration will take place on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from St. John’s Citadel, 25 Adams Ave. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery.
