Dodok, Licia (nee Lanzellotti)
A resident of Chatham, Licia passed peacefully surrounded by her family at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on Monday, January 22, 2018 in her 61st year after a courageous 10 year battle with cancer.
Licia was the daughter of the late Luca & Santina Lanzellotti.
Devoted wife of 32 years to Michael Dodok.
Loving mother of Christina Walker (Brandan) of Mississauga, Matthew Dodok & Nicholas Dodok, both of Chatham.
Nonna of Peyton.
Sister of Louisa Pilfold (Randy) of Vancouver & Leah Lanzellotti of Abbotsford.
Missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.
Born in Prince Rupert, BC, where she began her teaching career. After meeting & marrying Mike, Licia moved to Kent County where she continued her love of teaching as a Resource Teacher for the St. Clair Catholic School Board. Licia loved to garden, travel, and had a love for nature. Her love for nature was shown by helping Mike with the family farm & apiary. She also had a love for reading and enjoyed getting together with her Book Club Friends. She was a devoted Parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church & a member of the Catholic Women’s League.
Licia was a strong & inspirational wife and mother, who never gave up & fought to the very end.
The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to the staff & volunteers at the Chatham-Kent Hospice, the wonderful nursing staff at the Oncology Department at the CKHA with a special thank you to Dr. Melissa Johnston.
Family to receive friends on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm & 7:00 – 9:00 pm at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham. Vigil Prayers will take place at 7:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 145 Victoria Avenue, Chatham at 1:00 pm.
Interment to follow in Maple Leaf Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Licia may be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation and to a charity of choice.
