Obituary for
Leonie Schinkle
After her family was able to say their last goodbyes, Leonie passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Brantford General Hospital. She is predeceased by her husband Henry (1982) and her son Douglas (1998). Lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter Sharon Rafferty (Mike), granddaughters Jenn (Travis), Lisa (Vlad), and new great-granddaughter Rowan. Born in Holland in 1922, she travelled to Canada as a war bride on the Queen Mary in 1946 and settled in Winnipeg. The family moved to Brantford in 1952. Nannie loved animals, tending to her flower gardens, and sharing meals at family gatherings. As well, a pet cat was always a companion in her home. As per Leonie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date. If wished, a donation to the Brant SPCA can be made in Leonie’s memory.
