Obituary for Leonard Simon Zettler
It is with very heavy hearts that the family announces the sudden passing of Leonard Simon Zettler of Greenock at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Walkerton on Monday, February 12, 2018 at the age of 81.
Beloved husband of Edna (nee Gross) for 60 years. Loving father of Rick (Joan) of Dunkeld, Karen (Kevin) Wilken of Elmwood, Suzanne (Bill) Howe of Cargill and Margaret (John) Mason of Walkerton. Cherished grandfather of twenty-two grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Teresa Schnurr, Walter (Dorothy) Zettler, Vera Schmidt all of Walkerton, Lois Zettler (SSND) of Waterdown, Francis (Eugenia) Zettler, Helen Zettler all of Walkerton, Jerome (Sandi) Zettler of Hanover and Denis (Jan) Zettler of Dutton and brother-in-law of Harold Poechman and Jim Rich.
Len was predeceased by his parents Peter and Agnes (nee Walter); sisters Cleta (Leo) Hoffarth, Mary Poechman and Stella Rich; sister-in-law Catherine Rich and brothers-in-law Walter Schnurr and Raymond Schmidt.
After dairy farming for many years, Len became very active in the community. He enjoyed golf, crokinole, lawn bowling, volunteering at community breakfasts, joined Knights of Columbus and the Walkerton Legion, and loved his card games! He was a gentle and loving family man and will be dearly missed.
Leonard’s family will receive relatives and friends for a casual visitation from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16th at the Cameron Funeral Home, Walkerton. Parish prayers will be held at 3:45 p.m. and Knights of Columbus Rosary at 8:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 17th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Mary Immaculate Church, Chepstow. Rev. Luc Payette officiating.
Spring interment in Mary Immaculate Cemetery.
