Life Legacy
PROTEAU, Leonard – Passed away suddenly at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Wednesday February 14, 2018 at the age of 85. Beloved uncle of Rick (Mary Anne) Parkhurst and Lynne (Wayne) Labelle. Dear friend of Nick Ross, Brian and many other close friends. Predeceased by his brother Melroy Proteau (1997), his sister Georgina Parkhurst (2010), and his best friend and brother-in-law John Bernard (2016). He will be fondly remembered many nieces and nephews. Leonard dedicated his life to serving his country in the Canadian Armed Forces, serving in the Korean War. He joined the Royal Canadian Army in 1951. After serving for seven years, he transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force, continuing his service until he retired in 1979. After retirement Leonard then continued his service with the Royal Canadian Air Force Reserve (Air Cadets) from 1979 to 1989. Leonard was a proud and dedicated member of the Korean Veterans Association and also a longtime member of the Thorold Legion Branch 17 Cribbage Team. As the only Habs fan in the family, he was used to a lot of ‘trash talk’ from everyone. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will take place at Lundy’s Lane Cemetery on Wednesday February 21 at 1:30 pm. Arrangements entrusted to PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. Online condolences at www.pattersonfuneralhome.com
