Obituary
Passed peacefully at St. Clare’s Hospital on Thursday, January 25, 2018. Len was a retired teacher, an avid golfer, and loved softball and music.
Predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Marion King; brother, Max; and father and mother-in-law, Rev. T.E. and Enid Smith.
Len was a loving husband, dad, pop, and loyal friend. He leaves with fond and loving memories his wife, Elaine (nee Smith); daughters, Jennifer (Robert) Collins, Anna (Dan) Haydon, Stephanie (Wes) Ryan; son, Michael (Heather Power); sister, Gloria King (Fred Fagan); grandchildren, Hunter and Hailey Ryan, Nathaniel and Maggie Power-King, and Lucy Haydon; brother-in-law, Derek (Jean) Smith; sisters-in-law, Pat (Merv) Clarke, Marilyn (Roland) Dawe, and Dale King, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends. Special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre.
At Len’s request, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John’s, on Saturday, January 27th from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm and on Sunday, January 28th from 10 am-5 pm. Funeral service will be held at the Carnell Memorial Chapel, 329 Freshwater Road, on Sunday, January 28th at 7:00 pm. Flowers are gratefully accepted but donations in Len’s memory are preferred and may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre.
