Leo Martin Hynes
November 11, 1944 – July 23, 2018
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Leo Martin Hynes announces his passing at the Dr. Charles L LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL on Monday, July 23rd, 2018 at the age of 73 years. Born in Codroy Valley, NL, Leo was the son of the late Leonard and Rita Hynes (nee Poole). He was also predeceased by his wife Ursula Hynes (nee Bruce) in 1991; father and mother-in-law Augustine and Elizabeth Bruce (nee Nugent); son Dion Hynes; brother William Hynes, Kevin Hynes and sister Jean (Don Musseau) Hynes.
He leaves to mourn with precious memories his children Cheryl (Tim) Francis of Timberlea, NS, Jocelyn (Scott) Harrison of Blandford, NS, Tracy (Josh) McNeil both of Halifax, NS, Jennifer (John) MacDougall; grandchildren Meghan, Nick, Liam, Toby, Ben, Charlotte, Finley; brothers Doug (Laura) Hynes, Brian (Sharon) Hynes both of St. Andrew’s, NL, Karl (Pam) Hynes of Conn, Glen Hynes of Ottawa, Ont; sisters Marlene Hynes (Ted Maciaac) of St. Andrew’s, NL, Marg Dominie (Lloyd Herritt) of Stephenville, NL, Georgina Hynes (Jeff Hopkins) of Ottawa, Ont, Patti Hynes Leclair of Ontario; sisters-in-law Marion Blagdon Hynes, Pauline Wall Hynes both of St. Andrew’s, NL plus a large circle of nephews and nieces.
In keeping with Leo’s wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of Leo’s life will take place in Newfoundland at a later date with a private burial in Nova Scotia. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leo’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
