Obituary of Lawson Myra
LAWSON GRANT MYRA, age 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Sus on July 27, 2018 following a lengthy illness. Born in Gaspereau, Kings County, Nova Scotia on January 12, 1941, he was the only son of the late Lawson and Dorothy (Lantz) Myra.
Lawson is survived by his spouse Jean Brown of Sus, her children; Russell Brown (Matthew) of Moncton, Katie Carter (Brian) of Pennfield, Morgan Long (Kevin) of Bloomfield; his son Jim (Shelley) of Halifax; his daughter Darlene (Lou) of St. John’s, NL; grandchildren Logan Myra, Rhys Shackleton and Rylan Carter, Logan and Hailey Long. Lovingly remembered by brothers and sisters-in-law Eileen and Harvey Baxter, Winnie Teakles, John and Dorothy Betteridge and Alice and Lorne Folkins. Remembered by sisters Betty, Andrea, Arleen (all of Nova Scotia) and their families. Missed by his faithful companion, Laddie the Cocker Spaniel. He was predeceased by his sister Glennie.

Lawson completed his training at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Academy in Regina, Saskatchewan. From there he served in the Sackville, Campbellton, Jacquet River, Petitcodiac, Port Elgin and Moncton RCMP detachments. Retiring as Sergeant from the Sus detachment. Lawson will be remembered by extended family members and the countless people who met him over the years through his career in policing, involvement in service clubs and various hobbies including antique cars, bowling and fly fishing.
Arrangements are entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sus, NB (506-433-1176). Honouring Lawson’s wishes, there will be a private family memorial gathering at a later date.
