It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of Larry Tilley at Health Sciences North in Sudbury on Sunday August 13, 2018 at the age of 67. Larry fought hard right to the end and his passing is heartbreaking to all of knew and loved him. Predeceased by his father Harvey and little brother Thomas Tilley. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, June Tilley of Elliot Lake. He also leaves behind his stepdaughter Cathy, his granddaughter Amanda (Jamie), his grandson Sheldon and his great grandson Wesley Jacob. He will be sadly missed by his uncle Allan (Joan), aunt Gloria, sister-in-law Lorraine and family and by his best man Tim Clark (Lynn). He will also be sadly missed by his friends in the Dialysis Unit at St. Joseph’s General Hospital. Larry lived in Alliston for 4 years and worked for Dallas Disposal, Laidlaw and Waste Management for approximately 40 years. He and June got together in 1980 and married in 1985. They relocated to Hamilton where he loved cheering on the Hamilton Tiger Cats. From there, they moved to Milton for approximately 6 years and after attending his niece’s wedding in Elliot Lake, they fell in love with this community and decided to purchase a home in Elliot Lake. In 2010, he purchased 2 snowmobiles and a side by side to enjoy the great outdoors our area has to offer. His passion for the outdoors was unfortunately short lived as he started struggling with diabetes, heart disease & kidney dialysis. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating Larry’s life will be celebrated on Monday August 20, 2018 at 1 pm from the Elliot Lake Funeral Chapel & Cremation Centre (36 Ontario Ave). The Rev. Cory Vermeer-Cuthbert officiating. Memorial contributions to the Dialysis Unit at St. Joseph’s General Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Purzner and nursing staff at St. Joseph’s General Hospital for the care and compassion provided to Larry throughout the course of his illness.
