Rudolph Klemp of Onoway passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Westview Hospital in Stony Plain at the age of 87. Rudy was born on February 28, 1931 in Bartokow, Poland to Robert and Olga Klemp; he was the oldest of 4 children. The family immigrated in 1952 to southern Alberta where they worked on a beet farm till they could get established in their new country and repay their immigration loan.
Rudy farmed for many years in the Sangudo area where he raised his 3 children from his first marriage; Wilfred (Sherry), Karen (Leslie Schatz), and Dennis (Dawn).
Rudy is also survived by his wife Marie (Bartel), whom he married in 1993, and her family; Anita Nagy (Todd Schultz), Kevin (Sandra), Richard (Tracy), and grandchildren Gage, Madison, Shelby, Laura, Karla, Gina, Clayton, Bailey, Carson, Keira, and a great-grandson, Carter. He is also survived by his siblings, Bernie (Kathy), Margaret, and Ann (Myron) and nieces and nephews, his closest being Cheryl (Paul Morin) of Edmonton.
Rudy was predeceased by a grandson and a nephew.
The funeral service and internment for Rudy will be held at the Onoway Baptist Church where he was a member for many years, on Tuesday, April 17, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Rick Foster and Pastor Greg Garbutt officiating.
