Johnston, Kay (nee Fleming) October 21, 1931 – February 11, 2018 Kathryn (Kay) Johnston passed peacefully on Sunday, February 11th at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus at the age of 86. Predeceased by husband Donald (1985). Cherished Mother of Jean (Chris McKitterick), David (Susy Bertinato), Laura (Rick Eygenstein) and Anne. Grammie Kay to Isabelle & Phillip McKitterick, Amanda, Dylan and Eric Johnston and Hudson and Katelyn Eygenstein. Mom is survived by her sister Virginia Curran and predeceased by her brothers James and Richard. Our family extends enormous gratitude to our sister Anne who was mom’s primary caregiver for the past several years and without Anne, Mom would not have been able to remain in her own home. Anne’s helpers included Janice Ripley, Bev Phillips and Bonnie St. Denis, all of whom mom was fond of. She was loved and will be remembered by many close friends especially Vera Mitchell. Our sincerest gratitude to the nursing staff on F7 at the Civic hospital for keeping mom comfortable and to the wonderful Fr. Bill Penny who was in to care for mother’s spiritual needs. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Daley Family Funeral Home, 6971 Bank St. (between Scrivens Dr. and Metcalfe Corner) from 2-8 pm on Monday, February 12, 2018. Funeral to Our Lady of the Visitation Church, 5338 Bank St. for Mass of Christian Funeral on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 11 am. Spring Interment, Our lady of the Visitation Parish Cemetery. Anyone wishing to make donations may do so in mom’s memory to Our Lady of the Visitation Church restoration fund or to the Osgoode Care Centre.
