McQuade, Kathleen Francis;
Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on August 13, 2018 at the age of 74. Kathleen was born in Halifax to the late Corrine (Currie) and James Laughlin. She was married for over 55 years to Walter McQuade. Kathleen (Kay) had a long work career with Hugh McKay & Ross, Bank of NS, Reproductive Care Program at the Grace Maternity and IWK Health Centre from which she retired as a Health Records Technician . She is survived by her husband Walter, sons Randy (Bernadette) , Troy (Cathy), sister Edythe, Sister in law Mary, seven grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Heather, brother Jimmy and son Shawn (Nancy). She lived for and loved her family and friends deeply. Mom loved to travel and especially looked forward to attending the Black Watch Reunion every two years. Special thanks to Dr. Drucker , Nurses at the Chemotherapy Unit, The VON, and Palliative Care program, her sister Edythe who was also her best friend and companion throughout life and especially at her side during her difficult final years. Edythe was also one of her two “personal” Nurses along with Ali who made her final days more comfortable for the entire family. Graveside Service only to take place at Mount Olivet Cemetary, 7071-7075 Mumford Road, Halifax.
