FERENC, Katalin (nee Rumcsik)
February 6, 1930 – November 20, 2018
Passed away peacefully on November 20, 2018, at the NHS – ILTC, in the arms of her loving son Zoli and his wife Christine and Katalin’s stepdaughter Helen Potter by her side. Predeceased by her husbands Steve Mile (1975), Steve Gamplett (1981) and Imre Ferenc (2002), also by her parents and three siblings in Hungary.
Born in Vertes Kethely, Hungary, she and her first husband immigrated to Canada in 1956 and settled in Dunnville then moved to Welland where she remained a lifelong resident. Katalin was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church, as well as a member and former head cook of the Hungarian Self Culture Society.
Loving mother of Zoli and his wife Christine and stepmother of Helen Potter and family. Dear aunt of Sandor Radai and family of Winnipeg and Katalin Vass and family of New York.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the ILTC nursing and recreational staff for their wonderful care and support to our mother.
The family will receive friends at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Friday, November 23rd from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, a service will follow in the Cudney Chapel at 12 pm. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donation to the ILTC Recreational Fund at the Welland Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
