She was a dedicated teacher who established a strong personal bond with many of her students and fellow teachers that have lasted to this day. After moving to Beaver Bank in 1973 she continued community involvement as a Sunday School teacher at Knox United church and actively supported the Sack A Wa Canoe club. After a short break from teaching to nurture her sons she began substituting and eventually taught full time High School math at Sackville High, CP Allen, and Lockview, retiring from teaching in 2004. After being diagnosed with ALS in 2014, she soon became “The ALS Lady” and helped promote awareness through her smiles, joyful disposition and positive attitude. For the past 3 years she had the honour of giving a presentation on her journey with ALS to the 1st year medical students at Dalhousie Univ. Throughout her illness she continued to live a full life, finding and spreading JOY every day. She loved life and shared that love with others through sickness and health. Above all else she loved her family and was especially fond of her 3 grandsons. She will be missed so much by so many, as she lives on in the hearts of those that she loved and that loved her.
