Joyce Anne Schinkel
Joyce Anne Schinkel passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the age of 77 years.
Joyce was born on July 28, 1940 in Beausejour, MB. Joyce was raised on a farm in the Brokenhead area and attended Brokenhead School and Beausejour Collegiate. Following high school, she attended Manitoba Teacher’s College. On July 8, 1961, Joyce married her high school sweetheart, Harold, and they enjoyed 56 happy years together until his passing in 2017.
Joyce began her teaching career in Allegra, MB at Bonar Law School and then moved on to Winnipeg to teach at Lord Kitchener and Maple Leaf Schools. After 13 years, she chose to leave teaching and dedicate her time to raising her family. Joyce was a gracious hostess and enjoyed baking a wide variety of treats for her family and friends. She loved gardening and it was evident in her yard and abundant vegetable garden. Joyce was extremely proud of her grandchildren and always looked forward to hearing about their interests and accomplishments.
Joyce is survived by her children Lori (Nolan) Suss and Dean (Christie) Schinkel; grandchildren Kyla & Kendra Suss and Eric & Amber Schinkel; sisters Ethel (Andy) Koshelanyk and Lorraine (Gary) Hlady; brothers-in-law Elvin (Yvette), Reinhardt (Evelyn), Leslie (Elizabeth); sisters-in-law Norma (Harold) Malkoske, Betty Schinkel; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband Harold, parents Paul and Jean Kindefora, sister Connie (Larry) Zieske and brother-in-law Ronald Schinkel.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberly Ave, with Rev Bruce Gelhorn officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Cemetery.
If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joyce may be made to the Grace Lutheran Memorial Fund.
