Joyce Anne Oleksiuk
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Joyce Anne Oleksiuk (nee Kozicki) on March 14, 2018, at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg at the age of 76 yrs.
Joyce will be forever missed by her children, Gary (Diane), Kathy, Leanne (Darren) and Brian (Julie), and her grandchildren, Alexandria, Karly, Riley, Kyle, Cameron, Chloe and Jack. Joyce was predeceased by her husband Daniel in 2011, and grandson Connor in 2001.
Joyce was the only child of Alexander and Katherine Kozicki. She grew up and spent her school years in Elmwood, where she graduated from Lord Selkirk School. Daniel and Joyce married on Oct. 28, 1961 and moved to start their married life in Montreal where Daniel worked for Pratt & Whitney. The following year they moved back to Winnipeg where they built a home in East Kildonan and raised their four children. Mom and Dad remained in the family home for over 45 years.
Mom stayed home and raised her children and was very active with volunteering in the kids’ school, and was a member of the Manitoba Engineers Wives. Mom loved to cook, craft, garden, and spend time with her family. Her grandchildren have many fond memories of family dinners, swimming in the pool, and making Baba and Gigi’s their second home. Mom was a constant fixture at all the grandkids’ events, Ukrainian dancing recitals, soccer and hockey games. Mom also had a great love for her pets Tansy, Cindy, Pepper, Koko and Dakota.
The family would like to express special thanks to the staff and volunteers at Middlechurch Home for all their love and care over the past 5 yrs. Mom will be fondly remembered for her endless love for her family.
Funeral service to be held Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St, interment and reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
