Josephine « Jo » Pasek Burtt
October 17, 1957 – August 19, 2018
BURTT, Josephine Pasek “Jo” – 60, of Dartmouth, passed away August 19, 2018 in Glasgow Hall. Born in Fredericton, NB., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Josephine (Pasek) Smolinski. She did her doctoral research at Dalhousie University in conjunction with B. I. O. and conducted research aboard the CCGS Hudson. She spent many years as a life guard and had a passion for swimming. She was an accomplished classical pianist with her level 10. Jo had a love for animals, especially cats, having a few of her own and often caring for strays. She volunteered for Big Brothers and Big Sisters. She enjoyed Ballroom dancing. Jo was an intensely private but very kind person. She is survived by her daughter; Vicki, Hudson’s Hope, BC., brother; Wally (Peta), Saint John, NB., niece; Alex, nephew; Mike, an aunt; Lillian and uncle; Terry. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11am on Friday, August 24, 2018 in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home. Burial will take place at a later date. No flowers by request donations in Jo’s memory may be made to Bide Awhile Animal Shelter, 67 Neptune Crescent, Dartmouth, NS B2Y 4W4.
