Obituary Overview
Lovingly Remembered
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother at the age of 85. Josephine, fondly known as Jo to her family and friends, was born on the family homestead near North Star, Alberta, on May 31, 1933 to Sabastian and Mary Koffler. Being the youngest of five children, family was always very important to Jo. She was a dedicated wife and loving mother and took great pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren.
She loved getting her hands dirty in the garden and enjoyed growing and showing her prized african violets. Jo also loved sewing, knitting and crocheting and was often caught with a crochet hook or set of knitting needles in her hands.
She will be especially missed by her sister Rose. Rose and Jo were very close since they were young children. They moved to Calgary in 1954 and quickly established themselves in the new city. Jo met Jim and they married in 1965. Through the years Jo and Jim moved from Calgary to Nanaimo, to Cranbrook, to Radium Hot Springs and then finally back to Calgary in 1993 where they joined households with Rose. Rose and Jo became even closer after Jim’s passing in 2003. Always ready for an adventure, the two relocated to Campbell River to be closer to family in 2017.
Jo will be remembered forever by her son, Paul Harding (Pat), her daughter, Lisa Kampel (Stuart), her beautiful grandchildren, Robin, Spencer, Erin and Alex, and her sisters, Rose Koffler (Campbell River) and Clara Griep (Peace River). Jo is predeceased by her husband, James Douglas Harding, her brother Adam Koffler, her sister Eva Johnston and her parents, Sabastian and Marianne Koffler.
In lieu of flowers donations in her memory can be made to the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Josephine Jo Harding 2018..
