It is with great sadness that we the family of Joseph Petitpas, 90, announce his passing at Harbourview Hospital, Sydney Mines on January 5, 2018.
Born in Arichat, he was the son of Walter & Eugene (Briand) Petitpas.
He spent is working life in the construction field, working as a labourer until his retirement at 65. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and served on the altar for many years at St. Joseph Church.
Joseph is survived by his son, Allan, son-in-law Roy O’Handley (Cecelia), sister Theresa Pouchelu, 2 grandchildren, Michelle (Joey Campbell), Sean O’Handley, 4 great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Ann (nee Morrison), daughter Val, brothers Walter Jr. and Francis, sisters Emma Fitzsimmons, Sister Genevieve Petitpas and Margaret (in infancy).
We wish to express our deepest gratitude to the staff and caregivers on the DVA unit of the Harbourview Hospital. We truly appreciate all you did for Joe.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 9, 2018 from 12pm-2pm at S.W Chant Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral Service will begin at 2pm in the Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Duane Devereaux officiating. Private family burial to take place.
