Obituary of John Widdifield
WIDDIFIELD: John E. –
Passed away peacefully at St. Andrew’s Residence on Thursday, August 9, 2018.
Born in Windsor, 91 years ago. Son of the late Hilda (Goodwin) and Elgin Widdifield.
Predeceased by his loving wife Kay (Kathleen) (nee Langrell).
Proud father of Nancy and her husband David Arnold, Louisville, Janet and her husband Andrew « Ange » O’Brien, Brantford, Linda and her husband Brian Houston, Harwich Township and David Widdifield and his wife Lisa, London. He was also blessed with nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren (soon to be 12). Predeceased by his great-grandson Emmett Walker.
John was associated with several sports teams in his early years. Assistant Club Leader and YMCA instructor. He retired in 1981 from Bell Canada after 35 years of service. Member of Telephone Pioneers.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. A Private Family Memorial Service will be held. Cremation with interment in the family plot at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of John to the Parkinson Society, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
