Obituary of John Reid
REID, John Timothy Ernest –Our beloved John passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, October 9th, 2018 in his 49th year. A loving devoted husband, proud father and friend, he will be lovingly missed by his wife Monica (nee Roes), daughter Victoria (Josh Hopkinson) of Peterborough and son Joshua. He will be dearly missed by his mother Bonnie (Brad) Robinson, father-in-law Rae (Judy) Roes and his step-mother Mary Reid. Brother-in-law of Tim Roes and Rachel Roes (Shaun Hummel). Brother of Paul (Melanie) Reid. Loving uncle to Courtenay, Nathan, Alexandra, Anne and Lilly. John is predeceased by his father John Douglas Reid and mother-in-law Ruth Roes.
John was a highly respected teacher, known for his commitment to excellence, spending his entire 24-year career at Bayside Secondary School. His passion for teaching and educating went beyond the walls of the school. John was also a popular tour director on coach trips for Franklin Tours. He will forever be remembered for his interests in philosophy, travel, photography, music and dramatic arts. An articulate and well-spoken man, John was often called upon as a speaker or emcee at various functions among his circle of family, friends and colleagues. He did this with enthusiasm and professionalism, always finding the right words at the right time to create a smile, ease a pain or honour an individual. It is with immense sadness that we must say goodbye to a loving husband, proud father and dear friend. “I have lived a good life; my heart is full.”
A celebration of life ceremony will be held Sunday, October 21st at the Gerry Masterson Community Centre at 516 Harmony Road, Corbyville, from 2pm to 4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted on behalf of the HASTINGS AND PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY LEARNING FOUNDATION – BAYSIDE SECONDARY SCHOOL.
