Doug passed away with his family at his side on the morning of May 12, 2018 at the age of 75. He was born March 6, 1943 in Estevan, SK where he met Rita and they married in 1970. That same year, they moved to Rutland, BC where they began their life and family. Doug enjoyed curling, Kelowna Chief’s Hockey, cooking, barbecuing and spending countless hours on his beloved laptop. He was a devoted family man – family always came first. Doug was a hard worker and known as the master builder amongst family. His projects included residential housing, commercial construction, bridges, the Kelowna floating bridge anchors and countless 7-Eleven stores. He was known for his generosity, honesty, care, helpfulness and well worn Western boots. Doug will be missed by his loving wife of 48 years, Rita, son Jason, his sister Karen Johnson, brother Ross Johnson, his beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Florence and brother Brian. Prayers will be recited on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 6:30 pm with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Saturday, May 19th at 11:00 am both at St. Charles Garnier Parish, 3645 Benvoulin Road, Kelowna, BC with Father Bart van Roijen as Celebrant. Should family and friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Knights of Columbus, Father De Lestre Council 6233, 130 MCurdy Road, Kelowna, BC, V1X 5Y2.
