John Fisher
John Watson Fisher – born: May 5, 1925 died: July 15, 2018
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John, 93 years of age, at the MacKenzie Health Centre in Richmond Hill, Ontario.
John was born in Stratford, Ontario, the youngest of five children to Dr. Alexander Fisher and Nurse Sara Henderson. John served as a decoder in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII, on ships that accompanied and protected supply ships as they crossed the Atlantic. John was trained as a metallurgical Engineer at U of T, and at Western University in Ontario. He was Director of Sales and Public Relations at the Algoma Steel Corporation of Canada when he retired.
John is survived by his beloved wife and travel partner Kristin, to whom he was married for almost 20 years, and by his four children, Diane (Kharma), Deborah (Art), Christine (Liz), and John. He is predeceased by their mother June and his dear son David. John is also remembered with love by his grandchildren Arthur (Duyen), Shannon (Buckley), Erin (Mike), and Karli and his 4 great- grandchildren. Also sharing in his loss are his wonderful stepfamily Hugh (Jean), Brian (Donna), Glenn (Jamie) and extended stepfamily whom he grew to love as his own over the years.
John was a true gentleman, a kind and loving father, and a devoted husband. Everyone who was lucky enough to meet him quickly adored him. He was an exceptional man. He will be missed.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Richmond Hill Retirement Residence, 70 Bernard Avenue, Richmond Hill on August , 2018 at : p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Community Living Dufferin would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences may be made at www.marshallfuneralhome.com
