Obituary Overview
John Waldhauser
Peacefully on March 30, 2018 John Waldhauser passed away at the St Norbert Personal Care Home. John was 83. He was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret in 2014 and his brother Carl in 1997. He will be greatly missed by his children, Ken (Moira), Dave (Sheryl); his grandchildren Heather, Andrew, Katrina and Dale. John also leaves behind his brother- in-law John (Shirley); nephews Jim and Jeff; sister- in-law Kay, nieces Kelly and Karen; cousin Robert (Terry); extended family and friends.
John was a warm, outgoing and generous person. He had a large presence, a booming deep voice and “Waldo” knew how to liven up a crowd. John grew up in Montreal where he met and married Margaret the love of his life. John was a natural salesman and had a long successful career with Canadian Pacific Railway. This journey took him and his family from Montreal to Maine, New York, St John, NB, Calgary, back to Montreal and finally Winnipeg. This provided a great opportunity to travel, explore and make new friends. John liked watching sports; cheering and loyally supporting local teams. He also curled, golfed, gardened, loved his hot tub, and enjoyed entertaining family and friends at home.
The family would like to express its most sincere thanks to the many caregivers and staff of the St Norbert PCH for the outstanding care Dad received in his 4+ year stay. Your care, concern and warm support will always be remembered.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg at 2:00 PM on Saturday April 7, 2018. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
