John Michael Edward “Mike” Burns
John Michael Edward “Mike” Burns passed away peacefully with family by his side at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, August 18, 2018. Born December 24th, 1943 he was the son of the late James and Mary (Shannon) Burns.
Mike loved visits from his grandchildren, saying they were medicine for him. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Karen (Henderson) Burns. He will be missed by surviving sons; Michael (Carolyn) Burns, Stephen (Tanya) Burns and daughter Shelley (Jody) Potter; brothers, Joseph (Barb) Burns, Norman Burns, Billy Burns, Jimmy (Judy) Burns and Kenny (Sheree) Burns; sisters, Joanie (Bill) Bastarache, Betty Lanigan, Tina (Donnie) Matheson, Connie (Art) Janes and Peggy (Bob) Matheson; 8 grandchildren, Kayley, Andrew, Nicholas, Melissa, Noah, Chloe, Cody, and Jessica; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by brothers, Pat and Fred; as well as sisters, Casey and Susie.
Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John, NB (634-1701). A visitation will take place Wednesday, August 22, from 2 PM- 9 PM with a Mass of Christian Burial to take place from Our Lady of the Assumption on Thursday, August 23rd at 12 noon. A reception will follow at the Assumption Centre. Interment will take place at a later date.
Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
