Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre surrounded by his loved ones after a heroic battle with cancer. John Joseph Everson of Flatrock aged 74 years. Predeceased by his parents Edward and Rita, siblings: Benedict, Mary, Vincent, Cecil, Art, Will and Chris. Leaving to mourn his best friend and wife of 53 years, Roseann (nee Mason) and their children: Dorothy (Phonse), John (Deb), Lisa (Norm) and Shawn (Fonda); his siblings: Isabelle (Ray), Marie (Lloyd – deceased), Francis (Hazel), Edward (Christine); his sisters-in-law: Tina and Nellie; his pride and joy his grandchildren: Wendy, Brittany, Justin, Jeremy, Rebecca, JD and Brett, especially his little buddies Brad and Karissa Rose; great-grandchildren: Jaxon, Phoenix, Olivia, Violet and his princess Zia. John also leaves to mourn the members of the Mason family, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of the Dr. H. Bliss Cancer Centre, all the members of the cancer team: Dr. Alasaed, Dr. Wells, as well as the staff of 4 North B and 5 South A of the HSC, and his family physician Dr. Doody. A special thank you to Father Roche who offered solace in John’s final days. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, Torbay. Visitation to take place on Tuesday from 12 noon – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 10 a.m. from St. Michael’s Church, Flatrock. Interment to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
