Obituary for John J. Toma
On February 1, 2018, John J. Toma of Edmonton (formerly Willingdon), passed away peacefully at the age of 90 years.
John is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Pearl; seven children, Audrey (Barry Sirant) of Westlock, Veronica of Edmonton, Bernard (Lorna) of Vegreville, Sharon (Andrew Hoetmer) of Clyde, Dennis of Edmonton, Darlene (Chuck Beach) of Penticton, BC, and Susannah (Wayne Shank) of Edmonton; fifteen grandchildren, Colleen, Connie, Teri and Allan (Sirant), John and Andrew (Toma), Shane, James, Casey and Darryl (Hoetmer), Aaron, Adrien, and Arick (Yasinski); and Marie and Christopher (Shank); seventeen great-grandchildren; as well as one sister, Victoria Sarafinchan of Edmonton. John was predeceased by his parents, Ioan and Veronika Toma; one great-grandson, Maverick Yasinski; two brothers, George and Metro; one sister, Elsie VonBorstel; four stepbrothers; two stepsisters; and one niece.
Prayer Service Friday, February 9, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. at Park Memorial Funeral Home, 4814 – 50 Street, Vegreville.
Funeral Service Saturday February 10, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Romanian Orthodox Church of Boian. Father George Bâzgan officiating with interment in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
