John Friesen
1925-2018
John R. Friesen was born to Jacob G. and Anna Regehr Friesenat Winton California. On September 9, 2018 at the age of 93 years Our beloved Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather peacefully fell asleep in the arms of Jesus surrounded by his family. As a young boy he moved with his family to Swalwell, Alberta. As a young man he answered the Lord’s call and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite. His close relationship with God was very dear to him. He served as a CO working on a farm in Edmonton, a memory he often talked about. On May 2, 1948 he was joined in marriage to Eva Hiebert at Linden Alberta. In 1960 dad and mom moved to Edberg, Alberta where they continued farming. Dad and mom loved to travel. Mom passed away February 26, 2008. In 1996 he moved to Pincher Creek, Alberta where he made many friends. In 2015 he moved to Westlock, Alberta where he spent his last years. His friends in this community were very special to him. Thank you to all his caregivers for the good care he received. Those left to cherish his memory are four sons, Franklin (Julie) of Camrose Alberta, Rennie (Fran) of Edberg, Alberta, Marlin (Donna) of Fort Macleod, Alberta, and Roy (Shauna) of Westlock, Alberta. Two daughters, Sherrill (Bernie)of Hyas, Saskatchewan, Leanne (Brian) of St. Albert, Alberta, 23 Grandchildren and 44 Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister Esther Boese of Pincher Creek, Alberta, four sisters-in-law, Doris Barkman of Abbotsford, B.C. Helen Unruh, Agnes (Elmer) Wiebe, Mildred (Claude) Wiebe all of Linden, Alberta, one brother-in-law, Ben Hiebert of Swanson, Saskatchewan and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. Those preceding him in death are his beloved wife and daughter Rosann, four brothers and two sisters. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 14th, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Barrhead United Church.
