Obituary for
John Douglas Hay
Age 81, died peacefully in hospice on Saturday September 8, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Son of William Hay and Edna Hay (nee Saunders), John was born in Kingston, Ontario on 3rd September 1937.
Survived by his sister Gwendolyn (late Carman), his brother William Bruce (Margaret) and his twin brother Robert (Sharon), he was predeceased by his brother Donald (late Janet).
He will be sorely missed by his loving wife of fifty years, Hilary (nee Gray) and their children: Janet (Al), Emma (Rob), Katie (Mike), and William (Nancy), and by his pride and joy, his nine grandchildren: David, Sarah, James, Claire, Meg, Isla, Leo, Tait and John. He will be lovingly remembered by all as a man of integrity and faith.
John’s lifelong Christian commitment, his career in the Canadian aerospace industry, and his continuing work with historical and genealogical societies earned him the respect of many.
Friends are invited to the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor) on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 from 6-9pm. A Celebration of John’s life will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church on Thursday, September 13 at 11am. Reception to follow.
