Mr. John McMeckan was born June 16, 1930 in Vilna, Alberta, passed away at the High River Hospital on November 5, 2018 at the age of 88.
John is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Marianne. His children JoAnne Dubeau (Allan Hamilton), Marilyn Brown, Alan McMeckan, Terry McMeckan, Maureen (Toots) Hetherington (Bill), Darren McMeckan and Kevin McMeckan (Tammy). His nine great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Jackson, Connor, Sofia, Gabriel, Olivia, Riley, Scarlett and Nash as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his son Richard; his parents William and Zillah; his sister Margaret and brothers Willy and Jim.
John served in Korea with PPCLI. He was a lifelong member of Forest Lawn Legion #275 and a 50 year member of Operating Engineers Local #955.
Our family would like to thank the staff at Tudor Manor in Okotoks and High River Hospital Long Term Care, Dad’s homes for the last few years for their wonderful care.
