Obituary for Joanne Slawson
JOANNE (McDONALD) SLAWSON
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Joanne Slawson announce her passing at the Huntsville Hospital on December 7, 2018 at the age of 51.
The doctors will say she passed from cancer, but we know she passed from a broken heart. Joanne was predeceased by her two adorable children, who were both taken from her and her husband in 2015 by Cystic Fibrosis. Her kids’ friends called her “Momma Slaws”, and she loved that. We think that sums her up very well…. She was born to be a mom, and she was an amazing one!
As she had a cancer diagnosis, she was not able to donate her organs, but she was able to donate her eyes. Because of her very generous donation, two people will be given the gift of sight! She was without a doubt, the strongest person we have ever known. Forever selfless; even in death.
Joanne was also predeceased by her mother, Hilda. She leaves to mourn, her husband Doug, father Richard, brother Sean, sister Sharon (Rob), brother Dennis (Elena), and sister Michelle. She will be loving remembered by nieces, nephews, special friend Leanne Smith and family, and well as many other extended family members and dear friends.
At her request, there will not be a service. All we ask is that you keep her and her children in your prayers. If you haven’t already signed an organ donor card, please consider doing so, in their honour.
In lieu of flowers, we would hope that you will do a random act of kindness for someone in her name.
If love could have saved her; she would have lived forever!
