In Loving Memory
RHEINLANDER, Joan Rae (nee EASTERBROOK) 1939 – 2018 of Burlington, Ontario, died peacefully September 11, 2018. She is survived by her sons Frederick (Lois) of Auburn Hills, MI, John of Clinton Township, MI and Michael of Burlington, Ontario. She is also survived by her longtime partner of 23 years, Thomas Connolly of Burlington, Ontario. She was the proud grandmother of 3 granddaughters, Nicole Huwer (Tim) and Kristen Heestand (Rob) and Lillia Rheinlander. She was predeceased by her brother Robert (Bob) Easterbrook and sister in law Karen Santor (Bill). She leaves behind her brother Ray Easterbrook (Bonnie), brothers-in-law Ed Rheinlander (Cathy) and Mel Rhinelander (Linda), as well as many nephews and nieces.
She married her best friend and husband, Frederick (Fred) Robert Eldon Rheinlander from Hamilton, Ontario in 1958, and resided in Burlington, Ontario where they created and shared a loving home for three boys to grow up in. They raised their boys with a passion for hockey, soccer and becoming good citizens. She preferred a quiet life and would do anything for her children, always being her boys’ greatest fan and protector. She enjoyed camping with her family, playing the piano, guitar and needlework. She often enjoyed socializing with a few long time neighbors and friends from Procor at a « monthly breakfast club ». These women were always in her thoughts and provided a good social network for her. She also loved her animal friends, the most recent being « Rusty », her chocolate lab. Her late husband, Fred, passed away in 1989. We will miss her love, laugh, smile, hugs and compassion.
It was Joan’s wish not to have a visitation or funeral. Rather, she asked each of us to remember her, on our own time, and in our own special way. Please reflect on the wonderful moments you may have shared with Joan throughout her life. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in her memory to The Canadian Cancer Society.
