Obituary Overview
Joan Georgina Lane (nee Lamb)
Passed away peacefully at the Idlewyld Manor in Hamilton on November 16, 2018. She was predeceased by her loving husband Douglas Allen Lane and will be greatly missed by her children, Sandra Mieskie (Ron), Robert (Mary), Susan Murphy (Gary) and her three grand children Heather, Matthew and Shannon. She is survived by her only sister Audrey Peberdy (Keith) of Saskatoon Saskatchewan and many nieces and nephews in western Canada.
Joan was born on December 8, 1921 in Morecambe England and was baptized at the Holy Trinity Church in Poulton-le-Sands. Her family came to Canada in 1923 in search of a better life settling in Saskatoon Saskatchewan. Joan attended Buena Vista Public School and Nutana Collegiate before going on to Secretarial College. Joan met Doug while he was attending the University of Saskatchewan and they were married in 1947. They moved to Ottawa in 1954 where Joan remembered fondly her days and her many friends at the Rideau Park United Church Women’s Auxiliary. They moved to Winnipeg in 1973 where she was able to reacquaint with her western roots and family. In 1979 they were once again relocated but this time to Thornhill Ontario where they resided for some 38 years. She loved her flower gardens and yard and spent many hours knitting and attending to her prized Orchid collection.
Joan took great pride in her family and was always concerned about their well being and happiness.
She was recognized for her patience and kindness to all.
Many thanks to the very kind staff at the Idlewyld Manor Hamilton and for their dedicated care during her stay and final days.
There will be a private family service before internment at the Elgin Mills Cemetery Markham. In consideration any donations should be directed to the Alzheimers Society.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Joan Georgina Lane 2018.
