Obituary of Jessie Sluth
SLUTH, Jessie Ureta
Jessie Ureta Sluth passed away peacefully at Regina General Hospital on December 23, 2018 at the age of 89. She was born on March 7, 1929 on a farm in Dunelm District, SK. After completing her grade 12 she worked for a short time at the Royal Bank in Swift Current up until her marriage to Norman Sluth on November 18, 1948. Ureta was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Mildred Ferris; siblings Milton (Margaret), Howard, Marvel Morgan, Melba Ware (Geoff), and daughter-in-law Connie Sluth.
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years Norman; children Murray, Gerald (Janice), Lesley Rode (Lyle), Kelly (Helen) and Graham (Kelly); grandchildren Darren, Rachelle McCord (Brent), Carson, Dustin, Kevin, Courtney Rode-Lipinski (Chris), Stephanie McDonald (Terry), Patrick, Amy Backous (Micah); great-grandchildren Jordyn, Carter, Isla & Oliver; sister-in-law Helen Ferris and numerous nephews and nieces. Ureta was a homemaker and loved being a mother. She enjoyed cooking, interior design, playing cards and dancing. She also enjoyed crocheting and made numerous afghans for family members. Highlights in her life were travels to New York, Scotland & Hawaii. She was a faithful witness of her God Jehovah since her baptism in 1956 and she had a firm hope in the Bible’s promise of a future resurrection on earth (Acts 24:15, John 5:28, 29). Her only regret in life was that she had not taken an interest in spiritual things sooner. (Matt. 5:3, Prov. 2:1-11). Special thanks to the staff at Regina General Hospital as well as Parkside and Sunset Extendicare where she resided for the past 16 months. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 7008 Rochdale Blvd., Regina, SK. Family interment will be at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery in Swift Current.
