Jessie Feero
1918-2018
Jessie Feero of Canterbury, NB, widow of Merlin Feero, passed away
October 14, 2018 at Carleton Manor, Woodstock, NB. She was born in
Aberdeenshire, Scotland, on March 23, 1918, a daughter of the late
George and Isabella (Rowan) Gordon. She was a veteran of the Second
World War and a member of the British Auxiliary Territorial Service
(ATS). She trained in ciphers and served in England and North Africa
with Intelligence Services. She emigrated to Canada on January 1st,
1946, married Merlin and settled in Canterbury. She was a devoted
member of the United Church.
She is survived by her children, Brian Feero, Nackawic, NB and
Patricia Poitras (Roger), Edmundston, NB; five grandchildren, Lise
Poitras (Jerome Pelletier), Maryse Thomas (Evan), Gilles Poitras
(Veronique), Heather Cobey (Jason) and Mark Feero (Josephine); great
grandchildren, Alexandre, Lauriane, Benjamin, Olivia Jessie, Leo,
Sophie, Ryder, Joshua, Carter; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Merlin
Feero; her daughter-in-law, Gail Feero; two grandchildren, Derrick
Feero and Lynne Poitras; two sisters, Mary Helen Winton and Isabel
Petrie; two brothers, George and Douglas Gordon.
Although there will be no visiting hours, friends and family are
welcome to attend a funeral service to be held at St. Mark’s
United Church, 99 Main Street, Canterbury, NB on Saturday, October 20,
2018 at 2 pm with Rev. Greg Williams officiating. Interment at Marne
Cemetery. A reception will follow at the church hall.
For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Jessie, the family
has suggested the St. Mark’s United Church, Marne Cemetery or a
charity of the donor’s choice.
