WILSON, Jessica Mae Ann – age 27 It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of our beloved daughter, Jessica, on February 8, 2018. The centre of our universe, Jessica was a bright light with an over-the-top personality who loved to share her quick wit and wicked sense of humour with all who knew her. A proud Dartmouthian, Jessica was a strong community advocate, whether it was by volunteering with the VON, serving the homeless at David’s Place, or serving cadets and veterans at the Dartmouth Senior Service Centre following Remembrance Day services. She was active on social media, providing and receiving support within the colitis community and her 600 followers on her Instagram page @thegirlwithcolitis. Jessica was never one to wallow in self-pity even during the most trying times of her courageous battle. She never lost hope that she would finish her PR Degree from MSVU and that she would have a long and fulfilling life. Jessica cherished her friends. Some of her fondest memories were shared with her BFFLs Lukas and Kirstin. Jessica never met a Tim Hortons she didn’t like and Fast Eddie will miss his daily timbit run where the staff knew them both by name. Jessica’s family and friends were the source of her strength and she, in turn, was the source of ours. Her love of life and enviable ability to share a story in graphically embellished detail kept us in stitches. Predeceased by her grand parents; Desmond and Valerie Wilson, and Frank and Betty Ann Baert, and Aunt Patricia Wilson. Survived by her parents Duncan and Chris Baert-Wilson, uncles Robert Baert (Annie), David (Theresa), Phillip (Pat), Brian and, Peter (Sarah) Wilson; aunts Elaine and Rose (Gary Couch); cousins Nicholas, Bethany and Lily Baert; Patricia, Dawn, Heather, Iain, Ross, Alex and Allison Wilson; and Michael and Melissa Couch and Jenna Nelson; second cousins Jillian, Harper, and Jase; her loving godparents Bill Livingston and Avril Vollenhoven; countless friends, and her beloved dog Fast Eddie. Cindy-Lou, Millie and Max are welcoming her with furry cuddles and sloppy kisses. Visitation will be held in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth Monday February 12th 6-8pm. Funeral services will be at 10 am on Tuesday February 13th in Christ Church, 61 Dundas Street, Dartmouth. Rev. Kyle Wagner officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Colitis Society in Jessica’s memory are appreciated. We would like to thank our family and friends for their support during this difficult time and extend sincere appreciation to Dr. Ann Wadden and to the staff at the QEII for their exceptional care of our daughter.
