Obituary for
Jesse Jonathan DeLyle Lambert
Lambert, Jesse Jonathan DeLyle:
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jesse announce his peaceful passing at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, on Saturday, December 22nd, 2018 at the age of 34. Much loved son of Bryon and Lucy Lambert. Loving little brother of Brooke (John Nuernberger) and devoted “Uncle G” of Leah, Sam and Eli. His best friend Summit will miss him deeply. He will be fondly remembered by his Babcia Nancy Wojtaszynski, uncles, aunts and many cousins and friends.
The moment you met Jesse you were captivated by his sparkling blue eyes and beautiful smile. Jesse’s life was not an easy one due to an illness at 22 months that left him physically challenged. But in his mind, he was never disabled, but rather, “differently-abled.”
Jesse enjoyed the computer from a very early age (and by all accounts was quite a whiz). He also loved horseback riding at Pride Stables and down-hill skiing with Track 3. At Cameron Heights he did his high school work experience at the Waterloo County Board working with computers. He made many life-long friends and was always willing to help someone in need (usually with their broken computer). The past few years found Jesse volunteering at K-W Accessibility. He also had a lot of fun and demonstrated his “stubborn and sneaky ” streak with his Artemis gaming crew (a group of Star Trek nerds whom he loved!)
For his 30th birthday he got a tattoo on his left shoulder of a wolf howling at the moon, which he was extremely proud of, especially when he built up his biceps this past summer. Jesse was fond of animals and enjoyed his dog Summit and his cat Nick (who he adopted/stole from our next door neighbor). He found great pleasure entertaining family and friends with his music, movies and T.V. shows. His sense of humour kept us laughing.
Jesse had a compassionate and gentle spirit, but if provoked “Don’t mess with the Jess!” He accepted most everyone as they were and made friends easily. He was an extremely grateful young man who loved life and fought very hard for it. His courage and strength are an inspiration to us all.
Sincere thanks to Grand River Hospital and University Gates for your care and kindness as Jesse fought the infection that had that same stubborn and sneaky streak. He appreciated all of you who supported and were there for him over this past year. On his behalf, we say one last “Thank you”. A very special thanks to Dr. Ciccotelli and Dr. Claire Harlick and the Palliative Care team.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Jesse’s life will be held at a later date in early April. As expressions of sympathy, donations to K-W Accessibility and the K-W Humane Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
