It is with great sadness we wish to announce the passing of Jerry James Omelusik, our dad, brother, uncle, dog grandpa and friend the morning of December 6, 2018.
Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Shaylene Urquhart (Wynten) and Amanda Omelusik (Bruce).
He is survived by his brother Ron Omelusik (Debbie), his sisters Kathryn Thomas and Joanie Shilling (Pete) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was an absolute warrior during the past 2.5 years as he battled… Read More » a debilitating blood cancer. We were incredibly blessed that his sister Kathryn was a perfect match to be able to share the gift of a new immune system as his stem cell donor in November. Despite the heroic efforts of everyone involved he wasn’t able to overcome the complications that arose.
Jerry always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone he came across and we know he brightened the lives of everyone he met during this journey. We are incredibly grateful for the exceptional level of care and attention from the entire Staff of Unit 57 of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and also the many Doctors and Nurses from the South Health Campus who helped us in the early days of this journey.
During the past couple of years, we estimate that Jerry needed hundreds of bags of blood and platelets and would ask that in lieu of flowers or financial donations if you are able; please consider being a blood donor
