OBITUARY
Jean Marie Houghton
May 22, 1955 – November 13, 2018
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Jean Marie Houghton. Jean, a lifelong resident of Halifax, was born on 22 May 1955, and died surrounded by family on 13 November 2018.
Jean worked for 40 years sewing for Atlantic Bag. Jean’s family is eternally grateful for the wonderful work of the Prescott Group & Regional Residential Services Society for enabling Jean’s rich and independent life. The family would also like to thank the staff and residents of Citadel Court at Parkstone Enhanced Care. Their support and care of Jean is greatly appreciated.
Jean lived her life to the fullest. She loved to dance, sing and party; she loved the occasional beer or two. The enthusiasm Jean brought to these activities she brought to every encounter in her life. Although she knew love, loss and pain Jean always bounced back with sheer joy, a joy that defined her. Everyone we have met who knew Jean spoke of the love, joy, passion, energy and acceptance she would bring into a room.
A beautiful person has been lost to the world. However, all who knew Jean will remember her with love, joy and passion for that is what Jean gave each of us.
Jean was predeceased by her father & mother Guy & Matilda Houghton (Sampson), and great-nephew Caleb Houghton. Her vibrant personality and quick wit will be deeply missed by her siblings, James (Linda) Houghton, Robert (Ruth) Houghton and Linda (Stuart) Houghton-Frickleton and nieces, Lisa (Sean) Daye, Jasmine (Mike) Frickleton, Adele (Jordan) Frickleton, Amber (Mark) Frickleton; nephews, Scott (Michelle) Houghton, Michael (Kaylynn) Houghton, Tristan (Mallory) Houghton.
The interment service will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville, Monday 19 November 2018 at 11:00AM.
