Passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 27th, 2018 at Carpenter Hospice with her husband of 60 years by her side. Beloved wife of Frederick Brown. Loving mother of Catherine Young (Robert) and Deborah Brown (James). Cherished grandmother of Sarah and Robert Young and step-grandmother of Nina, Danika and Joshua Vandersteen. Much loved elder sister of Marion Campbell, John McClellan and the late Marjorie Chalmers, and aunt to many nieces and nephews of both the Brown and McClellan families.

Google Maps grew up on a multi-generational dairy farm in New Durham, Ontario and enjoyed a happy and secure childhood. Following secretarial college, she worked in Brantford where she met Fred and they married in 1957. They moved to Hamilton then built a home in Waterdown where they settled and raised their family. Longstanding members of St James United Church and the Waterdown community, Jean was a librarian at the Waterdown library for many years and volunteered for several local charitable organizations.
A private family interment at Waterdown Cemetery has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown on Saturday, June 2, 2018 – Visitation from 10 a.m. until the Service begins at 11 a.m.
In memory contributions to St James United Church in Waterdown or Carpenter Hospice in Burlington would be appreciated in lieu of flowers. The family thanks the staff and volunteers at Carpenter Hospice for their great care and attention to Jean during her final days.
