Obituary for
Jean Barbara Stroud (Peacock)
Jean Barbara Stroud
July 1, 1927 – December 5, 2018
Jean Stroud, born on Canada Day in North Toronto to Wilbur and Hazel Peacock, sister to Elsie. She attended Lawrence Park Collegiate before graduating and working at Bell Canada. Beloved wife of Wallace Ross Stroud, they were married 68 years. Devoted mother to Peggy Delaney (Bob), David (Sandra), Joanne Brown (Bruce), Barbara Stroud-Ruuskanen (David). Cherished Grandmother to Laura, Amy, and Rob; Katelyn and David; Sarah, Ryan and Brittany; Robbie and Joanna. Proud Great-Grandmother to Ethan, Mikayla, Cameron, Kathryn, Lauren, Liam, Paige, Hudson, Joel, Isobel and Joshua. She passed away peacefully at Alexander Muir Retirement Residence.
Mom will be remembered for her love of family, quick wit and ready smile. She had the sweetest nature and kindest heart. A talented homemaker and seamstress, she sewed clothes for her family, blankets and treasures for church bazaars, and gifts for friends. She enjoyed her time at Woodridge, the family cottage on the Ottawa River. Hours were devoted to her family, playing scrabble, reading, baking (the absolute best pumpkin pie) and sitting on the deck watching the many chippies and birds. She had a particular fondness for bluebirds, hummingbirds, and butterflies.
Heaven has gained an angel. We are better people for having had her in our lives. She was love personified: patient and kind, never boastful. She will be greatly missed.
At mom’s request a private family service will be held. Interment at Whyte’s Cemetery, Fitzroy Harbour, in the spring.
Thank you to the staff at Alexander Muir for caring for our mother like family. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
