PEART, Jay Edward
Of Burlington, Ontario, unexpectedly at Joseph Brant Hospital on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the age of 73. Beloved and devoted husband of Sue Peart (nee Eldridge). Loving father of John Peart (Stephanie) and Jaye Peart (Brian Cashion). Cherished grandfather of Emily Peart. Jay is predeceased by his sister Virginia Nethercott (nee Peart), and parents Jack and Janet.
Jay was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario where he attended Hill Park Secondary School, before completing his BA at McMaster University on his path to Osgood Law School graduating in October of 1969. Jay passionately practiced law with integrity as a partner at Johnston & Peart for 48 years. Jay married the love of his life, Sue, in 1974 after meeting her at the local registry office and remained happily married for more than 43 years. Jay played an active role in his children’s lives and instilled in them his strong work ethic and selflessness. Jay adored sports, actively participating in golf (H.G.C.C.) and hockey (Burlington Old Timers). For those of you who knew Jay well, you will know that he is rolling his eyes to know that you’re reading this.
As per Jay’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 3-5 and 7-9p.m. Celebration of Life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 10:30a.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Jay are asked to please consider the Ontario Lung Association or a selfless act of kindness.
