Obituary Overview
Jay Walkow
On October 16, 2018, after 48 short years of giving laughter, creativity, and uniqueness to our world, Jay was taken from us and our lives will never be the same. Continuing to hold him in our hearts are his mom, Jan, sister and best friend Lori, sisters Kathryn, Lisa; brothers-in-law Terry, Andy; nieces Miya, Tyler, Nyah; aunts, uncles, cousins, valued longtime friends and his four legged buddy, Paco. He was predeceased by his dad, Edward.
Jay was born and raised in Winnipeg and was proud to call it his home. He began his professional career with Rivard which paved the way for his own two successful businesses, AfterImage Media Productions and Magnetic Media. Jay was an editing, graphics and video production specialist who excelled at creating digital media products for a variety of companies.
The Winnipeg Jets were a great source of pride for Jay and he was one of their greatest fans. In addition to the Jets, Jay had an endless number of interests and hobbies. Music, movies, fishing, camping in remote areas, road trips, grilling, watching sports with friends, organizing football pools and enjoying late night thunderstorms, were amongst his passions.
Jay also loved being an online comedy streamer. Through these streams, Jay brought together a special group of people from around the world, who came to be known as the “Convoy”. Jay’s streams, and the valued friendships he developed through the “Convoy”, gave him a tremendous amount of strength and support during his hardest times.
The family wishes to extend its deepest gratitude to Dr. J. McElhoes for his compassionate care and support. Thank you to those who, through their prayers and acts of kindness, helped Jay and his family through this difficult year. We are forever grateful.
A celebration of Jay’s life will take place 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2018 at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, with Rev. Fr. Gerry Ward officiating.
Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Jay’s memory to the True North Youth Foundation / Hockey Fights Cancer: tnyf.ca/donate or mail – True North Youth Foundation, 345 Graham Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 5S6.
Jay, over the past year you refused to give up hope and you never stopped fighting, right to the very end. Your strength, determination, and courage were truly remarkable. Rest In Peace, Jay.
