Janet Helen Keddy

Janet died peacefully at her home in Bedford on 4th March with her loving husband at her side, following a long struggle with a chronic pulmonary disease. She was born and grew up in Harmony, Kings County, daughter of the late Arleigh and Margaret (Dunn) Banks. After high school, Janet entered the 3 year nursing program at the Halifax Children’s Hospital, graduating in 1959, followed by an additional teaching course at Dalhousie University. Her nursing career took her to work in Kentville, Hamilton, Dartmouth and Halifax. It was in 1965 that Janet married her husband and two years later, retired from nursing to devote her time to family. Janet’s legacy can be defined by her beautiful gardens and insightful wit that was admired by many. Janet is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ted; son Robin, Kentville; daughters Elizabeth (Jason), Ottawa, Marianne (Edward) Peryer; grandson Colin, Fall River; sisters Madeline (Gerry) Cadieux, Kingston; Rosalie (Manning) Banks, Tremont; brothers Murray (Carolyn) Banks, Dartmouth; Terry (Tish) Banks, Port Alberni, BC; aunt Edith Dunn, Castlegar, BC; sisters-in-law Kay (Shirley) Sanford; Norma (David) Hall; Debbie Keddy, Edmonton; brothers-in-law, Jack (Karen), Raymond, Murray (Lorraine), all of North Kingston; Russell, Barrie, Ontario; predeceased by brother Edwin Banks; sister-in-law, Joyce Banks; brothers-in-law, Frank Bruce, Mike Keddy. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, 8th March at 2 PM, at the Bedford Baptist Church, 158 Rocky Lake Rd, Bedford, NS. Memorial donations may be made to CNIB CD Library, Phoenix Youth Programs, Halifax.
